Slack

Slack is a communication platform for real-time messaging and file sharing.

In order to connect Slack to Windmill:

  1. Navigate to Settings
  2. Connections
  3. Add a Connection
  4. Select Slack

Windmill has an app in the Slack Marketplace to easily connect Slack to Windmill.

  1. Click "Connect Slack" in Windmill
  2. Choose the Slack instance you want to integrate with
  3. Grant Windmill permissions to access Slack
  4. Select the Slack instance you'd like to integrate
  5. Click "Allow"

Please Note: Windmill only has access to channels where Windy bot for Slack has been explicitly added. Inside the Windmill platform you can choose to automatically join all Public Channels but any private channels will need to get manually added. Once Windmill is installed, Windy will reach out to users to collect Feedback and to approve Accomplishments.

app_mentions:read - Lets Windy track and respond to direct mentions.
channels:history - Lets Windy read messages for channels it joins.
channels:join - Lets Windy join public channels.
channels:manage - Lets Windy manage channels they join.
channels:read - Lets Windy see public channels.
chat:write - Lets Windy send messages to your team.
commands - Lets Windy register slash commands.

groups:history - Lets Windy read messages for groups it joins.
im:history - Lets Windy access read it's DMs.
mpim:history - Lets Windy access group message history.
reactions:read - Lets Windy read emoji reactions.
reactions:write - Lets Windy add emoji reactions.
users.profile:read - Lets Windy view profile details.
users:read - Lets Windy identify team members.
users:read.email - Lets Windy access users' emails.

Windmill will have access to any channels where the Windy app has been added. It can also direct message with your team as Windy.

Slack FAQ's:

  • Windmill does not have access to DMs - your DMs are private.
  • Windmill does not have access to channels unless the Windmill app is added. Within Settings, you can have Windmill auto-join public channels to save the hassle of adding it manually.
  • Windmill does not have access to Private channels, unless the Windmill app is added directly to the channel.
  • Windmill does not store any data about Slack users that aren't registered Windmill users
  • This application utilizes advanced language models (LLMs) to generate responses, summaries, and other outputs. While we strive for accuracy and reliability, the content provided may occasionally contain inaccuracies or inconsistencies.
